Day 2

If you have ever been to Wax’n’Facts you might have noticed our deadly stairs behind the counter. And Monday night I became a victim of them. They are uneven in height, slick and wobbly all the things you want in stairs :).

Monday night I clocked out of work and walked down them and slipped on the last two or three, not even sure. But I landed securely on my right ankle. I sat on the floor, took my shoe off, rotated my foot, whimpered in pain and decided it was not broken, but could not face getting up yet. I called Briana, cancelled gym, and thought wow, what a lot of pain! My foot already started to swell. I did notice the customer who was standing there kept asking me questions, and even though Paul’s face was filled with horror and concern, the customer ignored what was going on.

I eventually raised myself up, and decided to go home. Kindly Emily walked me to my car, as I hobbled, I kept thinking it is just a sprain, how bad can it be. I kept thinking it would pass, and just be like a minor twist. Driving home taught me it was a lot more serious. I could not push the accelerator down very far, so I inched my way along Moreland home, plus I was terrified of braking as it was a searing pain.

I made it into the house then collapsed. I did not want to eat, I felt shaky ill and slightly horrified by the fact my ankle was going blue. I spent most the night debating what to do, and losing the ability to walk. I could not move my toes and the pressure of the blanket at night was agony. Eventually at 5:30 am I woke /v\atthew  and said I needed to go the emergency room. I quick drive to Northside Hospital, where I was placed in a wheelchair and seen straight away.

By this stage we had iced my foot and elevated it and it was still pretty awful looking. Several X-rays later and I was told it was not broken, but badly sprained and I would not be standing at work for a few days. I got my foot wrapped, and shoe thingy, some Vicoden and whatever else and we were on our way home. Looking at the form they described my foot as “acute blue” in colour!
