Gay Paree 2

Woke up fairly late on day 2, that means 10:30! And also meant time to go find food. The most exciting thing first to happen was I washed my hair. It had been four days since I had had it straightened, and I could not wait to finally wash it, the only problem was I had to towel dry it, and hope it all worked out. We then set off to a small place Matthew suggested for a late breakfast/early lunch, but sadly their offerings did not look very appetizing. We the proceeded to walk and walk and pass many boulangeries without going in. We did stop at an open air market and I bought fresh apricots, and figs. We eventually decided on crêpes and I got to experience ordering my own crêpe with eggs, mushrooms and cheese. It was huge! And filling and I ate about three quarters before giving up.

We then proceeded to walk and walk and walk to a park above Paris called Parc de Belleville. It is a wonderful view, plus free wi-fi…

We then walked some more, past Matthew’s first apartment, then I finally got my pain au chocolat. It was wonderfully crispy, buttery and melty. We wandered around, in and out of small stores and I got to go inside a french supermarket and get a fresh mango/passionfruit juice. A brisk metro ride to the big department store near Hôtel de Ville bhv and I got a flat iron for Europe and apparently dual voltage so I can use it in Africa soon. I also succumbed to the lure of children’s books, and got Noah a Babapappa Book! in French.

Some more walking and time for espresso, and an excuse to use some café’s bathroom. We sat down opposite the Centre Georges Pompidou had a strong espresso and people watched.

Then after a quick drop off of my purchases and a brief look in a record store it was dinner time. The record store was awful, I now know where dead Wax’n’Facts 12″s go to die, at 15€s each!!!! We pulled out Matthew’s handy Michelin Guide and picked a restaurant directly opposite us. It was an outstanding choice: Pierrot.

From left too right: House Wine A+, Veal Liver A+, Chocolate Mousse A+ Espresso A (merely an A as the one earlier was so incredible). Service was fantastic, the waiter’s father was from Smyrna, GA, and even the chalk board with the menu was barely legible. All in all a fantastic Parisienne Experience :).

Then back to the apartment to pack for Lisbon, and give my feet a little rest.
