After leaving Cape Town the next drive was to #montague and the drive was lovely. Taking a non highway meant it was pretty and quiet. Lovely yellow proteas. Then through the pass into Montague. It is a cute town and lots of dried fruit is processed there, so not as sleepy as it looks. Weavers we’re out in full force building nests #yellowweavers The following day was a drive to wilderness, with a suggested stop @dieselandcreme on #route62. That milkshake was divine .

So next two days were spent in Cape Town, which welcomed me with a rainbow Dinner was @blue_peter_bloubergstrand which truthfully has not changed much in all the years I have been going. Next morning was the incredible ( this is a fraction of the choice ) @victoriaandalfred_hotel buffet. It has fruit, cold meats, hot food, all the pastries and more! Finally got my boots polished #shinyTook the obligatory photo of Table Mountain hidden behind a cloud. And tried @_tapi_tapi ice cream. A very full two days #capetown #tapitapi #tablemountain #

After leaving the @karoo1_hotel_village (those cute sheep) the next stop was the Desert Botanical Gardens in #Worcestor. @sanbi_za it was fantastic. The plant life was all just starting to bloom and the daisies were all blooming as well as the variety of aloes. But the birds! So many sunbirds, hoopoes and weavers just flitting about. Lunch was had at the restaurant onsite and it was tasty. #hoopoe #birds #aloes #namaqualandflowers #desertbotanicalgarden

Back to Johannesburg after many stops. The drive back from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg was long but filled with sights. • emptiness of the Karoo• all the aloes in bloom huge fields just filled with blooms • sunset as entering Gauteng • sunset, the colours always stun me #sunset #karoo #aloes #blooms #southafrica2022

Saw my granny today she is sadly not as sharp as she was. But still has some fire. Bought her a new teddy bear, something soft for her. #granny #johannesburg #visit2022

I loved all the KQ details. Everything was so carefully done and so much pride and care. The salmon was good, and tasty ( a rarity in airline food ). #airlinefood Now waiting for next flight to Johannesburg.

Granny Hilda
Went to see my granny Hilda yesterday. She is going strong still!
I think the hardest part of Covid lockdowns has been the loss of interaction for the elderly. Granny was never super social, but been at the old age home and how quiet it felt was very telling. Thank you Tsippy for taking the photos and visiting regularly.
I must say though, the gardens and grounds are stunningly beautiful. And the carers very kind. (at Johannesburg)
